Bold. Educational. Fun. This is the goal of SHAPECiTY — an exciting new children’s brand created by Louisiana-based
designer Jeremy Johnson.
SHAPECiTY is both an educational and entertainment resource for children, with SHAPECiTYUSA.COM serving as the
main hub of activity. The website provides an introduction to the characters, their personalities and their world. In
addition to engaging a child’s visual sense, each character has a “feature” or hobby that assists with learning colors, shapes
and more — all with a strong sense of wonder and humor.
The long-term goals for the property include a continued web presence, clothing and merchandising, and expansion into
print and television media. “Along with web and publication advertising, I plan to utilize the viral nature of the internet to
spread SHAPECiTY to the masses,” states creator Jeremy Johnson. “Return traffic and audience participation are key and
will be encouraged through interactive features, fan artwork and photos, and regular updates of new material.”
Regarding merchandise, Johnson has big plans for the brand. “I believe the bold nature of the artwork and design appeals
to all ages — children will ask their parents for a shirt or toy featuring the SHAPECiTY gang, and 15 year old ‘emo’ girls will
want to carry bags emblazoned with Reuben, Frank or Maggie. Think ‘Hello Kitty’ merchandise or ‘Paul Frank’ apparel.”
When asked what makes SHAPECiTY a viable property, Johnson states that “there is something elemental, simple and
charming about the characters. Not only is the concept appealing, but it also provides the chance to educate and
entertain both children and adults. The opportunities to expand the SHAPECiTY brand beyond merchandise and the
internet — including the main cast, future supporting characters, and the city itself — are endless.”
